Kiln Shed
Better known as the ‘SHED’, this complex is equipped with two front loading and one top loading high fire computerized electric kilns, with digital programmers. The Shed also has wood working equipment including an Electric Circular Table Saw, an Electric Band Saw, an electric Drop Saw, an extraction fan and a collection of handheld electric tools for drilling, cutting and sanding.

There is also a Braising Gas Torch, clamps, files, a saw and vises for metalworking. With excellent internal lighting these facilities are external to the main SODA complex, allowing flexibility for artists to create noise, dust and fumes, which will not affect the running of the main complex.

Safety equipment is also provided, with eye and ear protection compulsory. Extreme care needs to be taken while using these facilities and a brief summary of the workings of the equipment is provided on arrival of each visiting artist in Residence.
